Tim Burton’s career began years before summoning Beetlejuice. The Museum of Modern Art launched a major retrospective exploring the artist’s work and asked us to communicate the exhibition in an interactive setting. Longtime fans of Mr. Burton, we created an environment that draws inspiration from and serves as a gateway to his carefully crafted world.
We offered various ways to journey through the collection, which ranges from early sketches to rare paintings to influential films. A timeline separates Burton’s career into three phases. Filters allow you to view artwork by medium or watch exclusive interviews organized by theme. We also showcased behind-the-scenes footage on the making of the exhibition. The preparation and build that went into it house as much imagination as the art they reveal.
The interactive experience will extend beyond the life of the physical display. We’re thrilled to have worked with MoMA in sharing this dark, whimsical collection.
